Softball Tourney

Well, we had the annual softball tourney for work today. We played at 10 AM, and we actually won. Then we played a team that had a by, and they beat us, and we broke for lunch. Then we played another team after lunch and they beat us, so, two losses and you are out. I hit a homerun in the last game though, which was unexpected. We had two other guys on our team that were jackin them all day too. Our team played good, but we just got beat. All in all it was a good time, nice day, and fun.

ITunes Commercials

I don’t use or like ITunes, but I do have to say they have cool music in their commericals. Like a year ago it was Jet, now the latest is Steriogram. Check it out. You can be the envy of all your friends.

SQL Exception Handling in .NET

In .NET , Microsoft introduced the Try, Catch, Finally exception handling. In all books and examples I have seen, you catch an exception like so:

Try
…some code
Catch ex as Exception
…some error handling code
End Try

Well, what happens when you are catching a SQL Exception?

Try
…some code
Catch sEx as SqlException
…some error handling code
End Try

Is Microsoft trying to tell us something here??

Can you see what I see?

Probably not, but either can I. I got my eyes checked and my far vision is awesome, but me near vision sucks, so the doc prescribed me to get glasses. I haven’t gotten any yet, but he said that I should wear them on the computer, which means like all waking hours.

🙂 ..Wait…I mean 8)

Don't Let Me Down…

Don’t let me down, but I did. The one thing I always could be depended on for I couldnt do, and I feel bad. I wish I had a money bin like Scrooge McDuck, but then I would have to have defenses against the Beagle Boys. I guess there is always Gizmo Duck, but he is an idiot anyways.

Microsoft Office and .NET

I know Microsoft is trying to make everything .NET, and they have there is a Visual Studio .NET for Microsoft Office thing, but I mean, it is a PITA if you want to try to make managed code work with MS Office. I would like to make some add-in’s for Outlook, but I want it to be totally managed code, and you can’t do that because you have to add in the COM objects for outlook. I have a book that I have been reading for my own edification titled “Programming Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange 2003“, by Thomas Rizzo, and it is a good read, but I just wish I could use all .NET assemblies and stuff instead of the the COM Objects. Maybe in the next version of Office you will be able to use totally managed code to create add-ins. I know in Whidbey, they added in the WebBrowser control, a managed code version of the Browser Control in VB 6.0.

Can you get enough

Law and Order? I know I can’t. I record every episode on my DVR and today there is a Law and Order Marathon on TNT – 14 episodes. It is funny how some of the actors revolve throughout the episodes. Like one episode they are a lawyer, then the next they are the bad guy, and then the next they are like the janitor in the law office. Maybe if I watch enough L&O I can skip the Bar exam and become a lawyer, or at least play one on TV. Im sure Thomas Dewey is proud of Jack McCoy though. 🙂

Let There Be Light…

I finally have a lamp in my apartment. I have been living here for over two years and never had a lamp. My mom was here this weekend, and decided I needed one. A Martha Stewart lamp. If that isn’t cool, I don’t know what is. I suppose she needs the money for lawyer’s fees or something.

Charter Revisited

Well, I switched back to Charter. 1 year of 3 MB internet, digital cable with all movie channels, and DVR for 60 bux. Can’t beat that. The DVR interface is kind of slow, but overall I think it will work (for a year at least)
