I hate August. It just is like a go between Summer and Fall. It always seems like I am low in cash in August. And now, it is like 50 degrees outside, when it should be like 70. I am waiting for it to snow soon. August was always when cross country always started too, around the 15th. After the first week of August when all the fairs are over (except the State Fair), it seems to just be a blah period. I can’t wait for Autumn…..

“August, eighth month of the year. Because it was the sixth month in the Roman year, which begins with March, it was originally named Sextilis (from Latin sextus,â€?sixthâ€?). It was given its present name in honor of the emperor Augustus, for several of the most fortunate events of his life occurred during this month. To make it equal to the fifth month, the name of which had been changed from Quintilis to Julius in honor of Julius Caesar, a day was taken from the month of February and added to August.”

Hello! My name is Kate (webmistress of indiaeyes.com). I found your site through a google search. I was bored this morning if you couldn’t tell. Anyway…about “August,” I usually enjoy this month, but not this year. I’m quite annoyed with the cool weather we’ve been having in Minnesota. I love heat and humidity, and already it feels like Fall outside. It’s unbelievable, but that’s how Minnesota is. You never know what the weather is going to be like until you’re actually experiencing it.
Speaking of the state fair, I can’t wait! 🙂 I’m a sucker for the greasy food. I’m awful!
