Nick Hexum, the lead singer of 311, started a site for donations to go towards a cause.

“Our first goal is to fund research efforts and raise awareness of the effects of global warming.”

“For our first fund raising event I’m seeking sponsors to make a per mile donation of the 26.2 mile Los Angeles Marathon that I’ll be running in on March 19th. This will be my first marathon. I’d only be guessing at how long it will take but I know I will finish.”

Im going to donate. And I think I might even donate the amount needed to get a signed T-shirt. This is really a cool idea and I hope it makes alot of money for the cause.

I was somewhat sad to hear that he started one for global warming. After geting climate info shoved down my throat all through my geology classes, it just makes me laugh to see shit about global warming. I applaud him for doing it for a reason, but there is so much uncertainty when it coms to climate change that you can’t argue for or against it.

Well, I think the majority of scientists agree that there is some kind of global warming happening, and that it is caused mostly by humans. I think the biggest disagreement is “when” it will become really bad or too bad to fix. There are companies that burn coal and create cfc’s, etc that said they were going to stop back in the 80s, then 90s, then 2010’s, etc. I think we have politicians in office right now that dont think that it is a problem, but you can tell that something is going haywire, just by looking at the hurricanes and evne the winter weather we have here in MN in recent years. Things are changing, and yes, the probably would change on their own, we are just speeding it along.
