Second clip from last night:
Well, I bought a good digital camera yesterday. A Panasonic Lumix, 7.1 megapixel. Has the lithium ion battery, etc. I picked up a 2.0 GB SD card as well. Time to get my pictures on! I really wanted it so I could take tons of pictures going out to Oregon plus once I am out there.
Well, yesterday sitting waiting to go out to eat with my Dad, I started playing guitar. We tried out the video portion of the new camera. Takes pretty decent video, only thing the format is Quicktime .MOV – man. Now I might have to get Quicktime Pro or some other converter so I can edit these movies, they come out HUGE, like 100 MB, and YouTube has a 100 MB limit!!
Anyways, here is the video:
Man what a debacle to embed video in wordpress, had to install a plugin!
Technorati tags: Digital Camera, Lumix, Panasonic, Windows Live Writer, YouTube, Beatles, Video, WLW, Insert Video Plugin
Was playing some Wii Golf (which I never play, this was the second time) and on the second easy hole, I scored a hole in one! Awesome!!
Fired up FeedDemon today and it told me there was an update to 2.5 – I went for it. Seems like a lot of nice improvements
One that really stuck out was the Dinosaurs: Feeds that haven’t updated in 30 days. I removed a ton of feeds that haven’t updated in over like a year.
I got an invitation to Joost. https://www.joost.com/
What Joost is: TV but over the Internet. The interface is cool, they seem to have a lot of programming, and not just independent stuff. Looks like I just found another way to get entertainment. (XBOX 360, Amazon, Netflix, Other online video, and now Joost)
I am watching Spiderman cartoon right now in the corner of my screen, and it is pretty good quality. There are AD’s it looks like they pop up in the background, etc. Doesn’t seem to intrusive, yet. We will see 🙂
Stumbled across this site, http://www.dayzero.com
It is an animated prequel to 24. There is one episode up there right now, looks like others are coming. Pretty cool idea, especially for 24 junkies like myself 🙂
As you can see, instead of making sure I look good after going to the bathroom at the Red Carpet, I am either really drunk and look like a guy from the 50’s in black in white, or The Receders have adverts plastered everywhere. Too bad I will be on the road by the 31st (the day of the show)
To quote Weird Al’s song White and Nerdy – “I could sure kick your butt in a game of ping pong!”
Well, maybe not.
But, I am getting better. We had a tournament a few months ago at work and I got schooled. I haven’t played Ping Pong since way back in the day at the Chisholm Rec in the summer, and then, I was good.
So, knowing I am moving soon and I won’t have a lot of time to hang out with some people at work that are good friends, I decided to play ping pong at least once a day.
I usually play Chris and Brad. At first I would maybe win 1 out 3 games, usually the last one (winner takes 2, but we usually play 3 just for kicks). Well today I finally won 2 out of 3. You see, Brad and Chris are like playing every day for months, crazy. Surprised they aren’t going to quit to become professional ping-pong players. All I can say is Chris – Brad smoked you today, and I beat him, so you know what that means. No going downstairs just to volley, this isn’t Nam, there are rules, dude.
Anyways, it’s a good time. I am pretty picky on my paddle, ball, and even the table. We have two tables at work and one is really dark, and there is a space below the net – I hate that table. There are some paddles that are just really bad, the new ones they got are nice. Some balls are heavier, I really don’t like those, or the colored one (like basketballs, etc) – just plain ol white is good 🙂
It is a good time and a fun way to break up the day, for sure. Out in Portland I am going to have to find a place to play. PPPP (Portland Ping Pong Players?)
Here is a video of our latest match:
Ok, yeah, we are crazy I know. I am in the Red 🙂
I just got my new laptop, and I am installing Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. Ran into a snag, that took me a little bit to find the answer.
First, SQL Server 2005 setup is just ghetto. There are two setups, “server” and “tools” and sometimes it just doesn’t work right. Anyways, only SQL Server 2005 with SP2 is supported on Vista. You would think that there would be a slipstream download with the RTM and SP2? Nope. Not that I could find at least.
Other thing I found. By default, you cannot install Reporting Services (SSRS). Reporting Services depends on IIS to run the report web server. Even though I had IIS installed on Vista, it still wasn’t finding it. Searching Google for “SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Vista” didn’t really give me much luck (easily).
Eventually I found this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/920201
Basically you need to turn more things on in IIS. I turned pretty much everything on but classic ASP and CGI, reinstalled SQL 2005 and no warnings – great! 🙂
So, I go to connect to my instance, and no AdventureWorks DB. I installed everything I thought? WTF? Well, I found this article on reinstalling AdventureWorks sample OLTP and DW databases
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143758.aspx
Because you know, once you install SP2 on SQL Server 2005, you can’t really run the RTM setup without it complaining, and then, it says you already have a newer version installed – bah!
So, in the end, SQL Server 2005 with all the fixings is doable on Vista. Just make sure you have IIS configured correctly!
