The Caesars – Jerk It Out II

While back I posted about The Caesars – Jerk It Out….now Apple has it as the background song on the Shuffle commercials….nice

It is an old song! Pretty cool though…as for the Shuffle, cool idea – still not a fan of Apple products!

Smile :)

This morning I watched a documentary on “Smile”, the long unfinished album by Brian Wilson. It shows how he came to create it and how it got scrapped because it was taking to long, the band members didn’t like it, etc. Whenever I start listening to the Beach Boys again, I want to play piano and record music, and be in a band again. The harmonies and melodies that Brian Wilson comes up with are just a trip.

Wilson finally “completed” Smile, but he didn’t use any of the original recordings. Him and his traveling band re-recorded all the tracks. It sounds good and is just weird! It really is a masterpiece, like the Pet Sounds album.

Grasshopper What?

Grasshopper Takeover. One of my favorite bands. I was reading something on the 311 website a few years ago, and Nick (the lead singer of 311) was like “Grasshopper Takeover is good, check them out”, so I did. Back then I downloaded all their MP3 they had available on their website, and I really liked them. It was my “clean my apartment on Saturday morning” music.

Then, I was at the Red Carpet, and I was with some friends, and I was like “Wtf? This band must be covering GTO!?!?”, but then I saw the poster, and they were playing!! How rad. So when they were done, I went and talked to them and they gave me a cd because I was like the only one there that had even heard of them.

Lately, I was on Napster, and saw they had a new album out, “Elephant Dreams”. I downloaded and purchased it, and it is a great album, I can listen to it through and through.

If you haven’t checked these guys out, do it. They are a little different but once you listen to them I bet you will like them.

Got to Get You Trapped Under Ice

Betallica. A mix of The Beatles and Metallica. What a crazy concept. Funny as hell. I was lucky enough to find their site before they must have been shut down. They had two albums, self titled “Beatallica” and then “A Garage Dayz Nite”. They are both good and funny. They guy sounds just like James Hetfield. If you can find the mp3’s, you should download them, especially if you like The Beatles or Metallica. Beatles melodies with Metallica style lyrics or just in the style of Metallica with new lyrics. Crazy!

eMusic

Yep folks, another online music store. This one features MP3’s, unlimited plays, unlimited burns, unlimited transfers to devices. You buy it, you own it (Unlike Napster, MSN Music, etc). You can sign up for a free trial, 50 free downloads. If you do, turn off using their player thing, and just download the Mp3 and listen to them in Windows Media. Once the free trial is over, it looks kind of expensive, so I probably won’t do it after mine expires. It also touts itself as having more “independent” artists, which is cool. No Beatles or 311 though 😦
