Pages Goofed in Firefox

 Update: I think I fixed it πŸ˜›

WordPress

Well, I changed by blog over to WordPress instead of blogger. My hosting site has a thing where it sets it all up and everything, pretty cool. I just imported my blogger blog over to here, and update my blog url to blog.stevienova.com. I figure if it is good enough for Aaron and Scoble, it must be good enough for me πŸ™‚

The State Of The Blogsphere

It seems that so many people start blogs, make one post saying they are starting a blog, and then never touch it again. It also seems that people stop blogging for months and months and just leave their blogs to die.

One other thing I noticed is that LiveJournal, et al type blogging services don’t easily let their users expose their RSS feeds (if they even have RSS Feeds?)

For someone who reads blogs through use of an aggregator, no RSS means no read.

Also, comment spam is just bad. Everywhere you look. At least now blogger has word verification, but then that turns people off from putting in comments.

The blogsphere seems to be kind of in shambles in some respects. Pretend everyone got 5 acres to build houses, and 30% of people just nailed two boards together and then never went back. Granted, there are some people who give it a good effort and build their house, but with no roof, and they never finish. In any event, all houses get vandalized (comment spam). That is how I see the blogsphere right now.

Blog Formatting

It looks like in the last couple days, something has gotten goofed with the formatting on blogger. I even tried changing my template to a cookie cutter one that blogger makes, and it still formats it all goofy…

Update:
Figured it out. The post I made on creating your own syslog server in VB.NET – I had some formatting in it so the “code” pieces would look correct. I guess that was making the screen scroll to the side. I updated that post and now it doesn’t scroll anymore, but the code portions of that post look like crap now, no indenting, etc.

BlogMap

I added BlogMap to my site today. It maps out where my blog is coming from, and how many bloggers are around me. I have been digging into the Microsoft MapPoint Web Service, and this looks like a cool use for it.

Mobile Blogging

My phone is an Audiovox 6601, which I can get on the internet, Pocket IE to be exact. The one thing I noticed is that I can’t blog from my phone. Why is that you ask? Because Pocket IE sucks at handling javascript, and that is what blogger.com uses when you goto post. I can’t login the normal way and post, and I can’t use the “blog this!” link either, because once I write anything, I can’t publish it. The buttons are there but they don’t do anything because of Pocket IE’s lack of support for javascript.

I wish things were more standardized between Windows OS’s (XP, Server, Mobile). It would make things alot easier.

I am off to Detroit for work on Monday-Wednesday night. Maybe I’ll run into Eminem.

Fined For Blogging

Mark Cuban, the owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, was fined for blogging about the hosting of the opening night on the same day as the election. I am surprised that Scoble hasn’t piped up about this at all. Cuban is a multi-millionaire and CEO, Big Shot kinda guy, and his blog is cool. It’s too bad the NBA can’t handle any criticism.
