New ICQ Version Release – ICQ6

I have been using ICQ for a loooooong time (my original number is in the first 500,000). ICQ as an app though has become bloatware, too many options, features. I have been using Trillian for a while now, except it seems to like to crash. I don’t like GAIM Pidgen, or Miranda, and others just don’t cut it.

Just so happens I looked up ICQ again yesterday, and it was on their site for an ICQ6 beta, well I really wanted to try but it was a limited beta. I went back today by happenstance and I can download ICQ6, so I am going to try it out, see how they have changed it, or lived up to the hype.

ICQ login numbers started out with four digits and it was a Mac-only product. I started out using it on system 7, and my login number was 5 digits long. But I lost my password for it and they hadn’t implemented a recovery mechanism. So my new number is longer, but still within the first 500,000. 🙂

Beer was fun last night!

Nice, yeah, i can’t remember when I signed up, I think it was like 1996. People don’t believe me when I tell them my number. I used to have a ton of people on my list but now most are on MSN Messenger.

Yeah, beers were fun. I am guessing we were probably the most techie conversation at Howies. 🙂
