T-Mobile Dash $49.99 For Developers

Found this from a blog yesterday, you can get a T-Mobile Dash smartphone for $49.99 from here

“Select “Save on the latest devices from T-Mobile” in the next page select “Click Here for Discounts” then “View Products” and last “Handhelds and PDAs”

The $49.99 is only for new activations, does not include activation fee, and only requires a one year commitment, which is pretty good. The better news is that you will be able to upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6 via a sofwtare download soon.”

I already signed up for one, hopeully I get it by the end of the week. It never hurts to try something new.

Holiday Party

Well, I promised a blog on the 2006 Holiday Party. Good times – as usual. Pre-party at Brye’s, playing Wii and listening to Best of Bootie 2006 – which I think I need to burn about 5 copies of for all the people that want it. Headed down to the hotel, pimped out room for sure, double suite. On to the party, open bar, which is always good. Awards, prizes, hypnotist, karoke/DJ. Fun stuff. I won a 23 inch LCD HD TV – which is really cool. I have it hooked up, but need to get my 360 hooked up, but I need to get a HD cable first I think. We also got bobble heads of ourselves, which I didn’t know what they would look like, but they turned out pretty cool. And, the reason I’m blogging this in the first place, I won the “Tech Dood” of the year award, so instead of a speech, a blog is fitting 🙂 – we will see if next year can top this year~

All I want for Xmas is..

Everything!

Man, the more I think about it, the more stuff I could use. Another 19 inch LCD would be sweet! Some Microsoft Points for my Xbox Live account would be killer. There are few dvd’s that I could watch as well. Seasons 2-5 of 24 anyone? Still clamoring for a Nintendo Wii as well. With all my geek toys, a USB hub would really tie the room together. Or wait, wasn’t that the rug I wanted? – dude, it would really tie the room together. How about some new kicks – if anyone can find me a cool pair of size 14’s – that would be a present in itself! How about a year supply of frozen pizza 🙂 – or even the 311 Day DVD that I would totally dig. See, ton’s of stuff I want. There are even some books and other things on my Amazon wishlist. Just call me up, and I’ll even go shopping with you so you know what to get 🙂

Well, maybe the best thing to have for xmas would be, snow!

Piano Update – One Week Later

So, its been about a week since I’ve had the piano. First song I tried to play, Colour My World by Chicago, I can get through it, but I screw it up to much. So on to the next – Free as a Bird by The Beatles. I recorded it, but I don’t think its 100% as good as it could be. Ive been playing around with some other songs, I figured out Blueberry Hill by Fats Domino on my own, been playing Hey Jude by the Beatles too. Im starting to relearn the chords again, which is cool. One thing I totally hate is that you can get music for songs, but it really isnt what they bands play. It has like vocals built into the piano tracks. I was watching A&E and there was a Paul McCartney special on – The Space Between Us – and it has him playing in concert. He plays For No One on the piano by himself. I look at the music, and it doesn’t match, because the sheet music tries to incorporate the vocals/melody in the higher octave. So I am playing that song too, but trying to do it from the music but play it like he did. Overall though its pretty fun. I can still play the Entertainer by Scott Joplin, and don’t forget Lady Madonna by the Beatles, and the one song I really need to perfect – Imagine by John Lennon. I can play the verses, but the chorus and bridge I’m screwing up on, its the same thing – the music doesn’t match what you would really play! So, I’ll just have to figure it out 🙂

Pocket PC and GPS

For my birthday, I got Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006 with GPS Locator and I also then bought a Pharos Bluetooth GPS Dock to use with my Sprint Audiovox PPC 6700. I tested it out yesterday and it works great. Now I have GPS location capablities with my phone, in my car, etc. My next step is to write an app for the phone to save up the coordinates to a web service, and map it out, so I can track where I have been, my routes, etc. I can also have a “Where is Steve?” page 🙂

Blackberry Debacle

I think it is funny to read about the whole Blackberry thing, where it might get shut off. I can see all the CEO’s running around worried they might lose their emails. I think if the majority of people who used a Blackberry had the experience to use a Pocket PC phone running Windows Mobile, or even a Treo running Palm, they would throw their Blackberry’s out. Using a Blackberry is like using Itunes. You get stuck to their server (or hack to get it working with out, with twice the overhead). A device like a Pocket PC 6700 from Sprint – Windows Mobile, built in wifi, bluetooth, and then with Sprint’s EV-DO internet, you are money in the bank. And since it is running a form of Windows, it is easier for developers to create programs that will run on the platform.

Playing with PSP

Since I won my PSP, I bought GTA Liberty City Stories and Constantine (UMD). GTA Rocks, I’m also waiting for the 2.6 Firmware GTA Save game exploit to be released so I can load homebrew apps. I really like using wifi too, to read news etc. I have to use “mobile” formatted versions of websites though. I only have a 32 MB memory stick, so I might have to get a bigger one of those also, depending on how much I use it.
