Reincarnation (Crazy Eyes!!)

I’m sure a lot of people have seen the news about the runaway bride (Jennifer Wilbanks) – those are some crazy eyes.

Well, I was thinking about back in high school, there was the big “Heavens Gate” cult – and their leader, Marshall Applewhite – he had some crazy eyes. We pulled some good pranks on teachers with the Time magazine cover and some cutting and pasting.

Well, I looked up both of their images and I made a little comparison image. Maybe Marshall Applewhite has been reincarnated as Jennifer Wilbanks? You be the judge.

Zelda

Been busy playing my gamecube, Zelda Windwaker. I haven’t played much for video games in a while, since I got tired of my PS2 games and haven’t bought any new ones lately.

I am getting pretty far, so that is cool. Brings back memories of me and Spiller at Southside Park Apt’s playing N64 Zelda..in between classes, and then after class, start drinking and play Zelda all night – oh the memories!

It’s funny how most people think the dood in the game (Link) is actually Zelda. Zelda is the Princess, Link is the hero – in this version you are another guy and you go back in time and blah blah, long story. Good game though. I need to hurry up and beat it so I can play my other games.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Went to go see Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy tonight. Pretty good movie. I liked the part where they went to the “church” of the noses/handkerchief or whatever it was. I wonder if people see church today like that. From the outside looking in, church here looks just as goofy.

I heard there was going to be a trilogy, I’m sure they would be good movies.

Great Hackers (By Paul Graham)

This is great. The part about cublicles is so true!! I have always said I could be so much more productive in an office, I even wish I had a door and roof on my cubicle. I don’t think an office should show rank, it should be like he says in his essay.

I would have to disagree with some of the parts on “tools” though. Don’t get me wrong, Linux and Python and Perl are good tools, but I like Microsoft technologies (but that doesn’t mean I don’t use Linux). Also, I think the greatest challenge (and most fun part) is trying to get VB.net to do anything any other programming language can do, that is what I like about using VB.net. I feel like I have to make the language “prove itself” to other languages (Java, C#, C++, et. al). Also, on that note, last night I installed Mono on my Linux box so I can write C# code in Linux, how cool is that?

Word of the Day: Houdini

Houdini: The ability to get out of sticky situations without anyone knowing how.

Used in a sentence: “Dood, what was up with that Houdini last night?”

Usually happens: At the bar when a buddy gets drunk and disappears.

Grocery Shopping

Why hasn’t someone thought of this yet…

Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could goto the grocery store or Target or something, and as you put items in your cart, a little LCD screen attached to the cart would tell you how much you have in the cart as far as price goes? Maybe they need RFID on all items and a reader in the cart. I just hate getting to the checkout and then finding out how much it all costs, I why should I have to calculate it in my head as I shop..its 2005!

Computers in Movies

I am a big movie fan, but what I always end up doing is watching for what types of computers they use. For example, I saw “National Treasure” this weekend. All they used was HP – EVERYTHING. Monitors, laptops, etc. They must have had a deal with HP or partnership. Then I watched “Swordfish” on dvd = they use Dell, and the “Italian Job” – all Dell. I think in “Swordfish” they had Dell, but they were running some weird or old version of IE, or like IE in kiosk mode. It is always fun to see what movie makers do with technology, and if they get it right. Like in “Swordfish”, they talk about getting a DS3 connection to the house. 28 T1’s ! Woah, alot of bandwidth. There are also some movies who try to come up with like their own OS and interface, those are fun to. Like if you are a hacker you see this magical mystery land in your computer. Wouldn’t that be cool to see in real life? Like you are on some acid trip in your computer and everything is 3D. Maybe one day, but until then, you can still watch for computer products in movies because the more technological people get, the more common they will be in productions.
