Went and saw Star Wars Revenge of the Sith last night at the cheap seats ($1.50 a seat – not bad!). I thought it was good. It is a good story overall throughout all the movies. I also downloaded and watched a fan film, almost like version 3.5 or something, called Star Wars Revelations. I also fell upon the WikiPedia for Star Wars and was reading all the timelines and stories and about the characters and worlds. If you are into Star Wars, then check it out.

Well, I just got back from Chicago last night, it was a fun trip. 8 hour drive from St. Cloud to Chi Town, through Wis. People think that Chicago is like a ghetto or something, but where I was, it seemed like it was a bastion of knowledge, learning, science, and art. It was really cool. Went to the Navy Pier, and the House of Blues. Also, went to the Adler Planetarium (first Planetarium in the US – 1930), the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and the Art Institute. Then hit up this blues joint, which was cool. Then finally, the 311 concert!!! Unwritten Law opened, then Papa Roach, then 311. It was an outdoor concert, and the weather was nice. Unwritten Law was OK, Papa Roach was good, and 311 was awesome. Their new songs are good too, the album comes out on the 16th. After the show I had some authentic Chicago pizza, which was a good way to end everything. I would have liked to gone to the Sears Tower and the John Hancock building, as well as the Museum of Science and Industry, maybe the next time I make it down there. Fun times!
Search Engine Wars
Took a look at my referrer logs tonight. Wow, MSN Search is kicking some major a$$! It seems that Google and Yahoo direct people to my archive pages, while MSN directs them right to the actual link page of the post, way better.
For something posts, MSN is the first hit, others I dont even see on the front page. For instance, search for “walmart auto service”
MSN I am #1, Google and Yahoo – no where to be found.
I have been using MSN search and I would say it is getting better. I also have been using Dogpile the last few weeks and that is pretty cool too, now that it includes MSN.
IE7 – Wish List
I have been using IE7 lately, and here is what I wish it had.
1) Warning on closing browser with more than one tab open.
2) Option to open every link in any program into a new tab
Not much – but big things.
One thing I wish IE had in general was an easier to use API to add extensions and add ons.
To make BHO’s, you need to hook onto IE and all that. I wish there was a more “managed” way to do it.
Well, I am looking at the registry. Right now in IE7 the feed finder will only find RSS. To add more types, goto
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerFeed Discovery
you can add other types there
like application/atom+xml
Close all IE windows, and then goto a site with an atom feed. The feed discovery button will light up!
Moving and Microsoft Betas
i am moving to a new apt tomorrow, so things have been kind of hectic lately. Cancelled my internet and phone, and right now i am “borrowing” a clearwire modem for the weekend, so limited connectivity. I have been using IE7 Beta1 for the latter part of this week and I think it is good, but still has a ways to go. MSN Messenger Beta 7.5 is sweet, voice clips are fun. The Hotmail Beta – needs alot of work! But I have subscribed to a few devs on the team and posted to their blogs with some things I am seeing. Installed Vista on seperate computer and have been playing with that.
Today I got the OneCare Live CD in the mail, haven’t had a chance to test it yet though.
And finally, I have been playing with doing a MSN Virtual Earth mashup, which is pretty intresting.
Microsoft is just coming out with new stuff so fast, it is hard to keep it all straight!

Don't Tread On Me (311)
Listening to the new 311 single, Don’t Tread On Me – over and over. Great tune. Ska/Rock. I am going to Chicago in August to see them play, and I can’t wait. New album comes out Aug 16th.
MSN Virtual Earth (Beta)
It looksl ike MSN Virtual Earth is out, I have been playing with it and I would say it is cooler thatn Google Maps!! Saint Cloud, you can actually zoom in and see to the max!!
