KARE 11 Makes Me Download TV Shows

Yeah, you heard it right. KARE 11 – the NBC affilate, makes me download TV shows. Why? Becuase shows I try to dvr error out when they break in with news and the show gets cut off. I got E-Ring and Law and Order from last week, dl’d last night. Torrents are great.

I pay for cable, I should be able to at least watch the shows on there. DVR doesn’t seem to cut it with KARE-11, who seem to think I want to know about Twin Cities weather and other junk when I live in Waite Park.

Cooperative Gaming

I think one of the best innovations in gaming throughout the years is cooperative gaming. Starting back with Contra for the NES, and recently, Halo for the Xbox, cooperative gaming is just plain fun.

X-men Legends is another fun one, and Star Wars Lego’s. Co-op games are just fun to sit down with friends and play together, you can actually be a “team” and play together. Games like X-men Legends, four people can play together, great times.

Refrigerator and Socks

WTF is up with my refrigerator (yeah, it is running, and no, I’m not going to catch it). The dang thing leaks water like 3 times a day from the bottom. My apt complex like doesn’t believe me. I step in the water, and then my socks get wet. Seriously I am going to call them and let them know they better fix it or get me a new package of socks, and a new refrigerator!

Science Channel

My new fave TV channel – the science channel. Very cool. Alot of shows on space and things like that. Pretty much any other programs I watch are on NBC. Speaking of NBC, KARE-11, the affiliate for where I am at, actually emailed me back when I emailed them.

Wed, I had a few shows on DVR, but in the Twin Cities there were tornado warnings, etc, and the shows got cut off on DVR. I emailed them and said I was in St. Cloud, and the storms had already passed me by two hours, and they should come up with more targeted weather alerting somehow. Also, they told me when the programs would be re-broadcast (on CNBC). They are lucky Law and Order didn’t get cut off!

9/11

Four years since 9/11. It was sad day, I remember watching the second plane on TV live hit the tower.

The 9/11 commission has found alot of places that our country is lacking in, and with the current aftermath of Katrina, we can see that we aren’t prepared yet. I think it all goes back to leadership (the lack therof that we have), and you can see how big of a cluster$@#& things are.

Hopefully one day we will get our stuff together and be more prepared..

New Job

I usually don’t talk about work on my blog, but I figured this is a pretty big thing, so I would post about it. Tomorrow I start my first day at my new job, at freeze.com. For the last 5 and a half years I have worked at St. Cloud Wireless Holdings, the holdings company of Cellular 2000 (Recently sold to Verizon) and Northern PCS, a Sprint PCS Affiliate. It has been a good place to work at, and I have learned a lot. I just am ready for something new. Hopefully I will enjoy my new job, and I am looking forward to new challenges.

Star Wars

Went and saw Star Wars Revenge of the Sith last night at the cheap seats ($1.50 a seat – not bad!). I thought it was good. It is a good story overall throughout all the movies. I also downloaded and watched a fan film, almost like version 3.5 or something, called Star Wars Revelations. I also fell upon the WikiPedia for Star Wars and was reading all the timelines and stories and about the characters and worlds. If you are into Star Wars, then check it out.

Chicago

Well, I just got back from Chicago last night, it was a fun trip. 8 hour drive from St. Cloud to Chi Town, through Wis. People think that Chicago is like a ghetto or something, but where I was, it seemed like it was a bastion of knowledge, learning, science, and art. It was really cool. Went to the Navy Pier, and the House of Blues. Also, went to the Adler Planetarium (first Planetarium in the US – 1930), the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and the Art Institute. Then hit up this blues joint, which was cool. Then finally, the 311 concert!!! Unwritten Law opened, then Papa Roach, then 311. It was an outdoor concert, and the weather was nice. Unwritten Law was OK, Papa Roach was good, and 311 was awesome. Their new songs are good too, the album comes out on the 16th. After the show I had some authentic Chicago pizza, which was a good way to end everything. I would have liked to gone to the Sears Tower and the John Hancock building, as well as the Museum of Science and Industry, maybe the next time I make it down there. Fun times!

Don't Tread On Me (311)

Listening to the new 311 single, Don’t Tread On Me – over and over. Great tune. Ska/Rock. I am going to Chicago in August to see them play, and I can’t wait. New album comes out Aug 16th.
